Bali Solo Break
Ever just feel like you need to hit the reset button? Jumping on a plane to switch up my environment is my ultimate escape, and Bali was calling my name for the perfect solo "menty b" break in April 2024. The vibe was immaculate, the food was fab, and Canggu delivered on all fronts. If you're looking for a work-play escape that hits the sweet spot between relaxation and vibey hot spots, Bali is the place.
My trip kicked off with three nights at The Padma—a lush five-star sanctuary that’s rich in Balinese heritage and luxury. The corner lagoon room I stayed in was pure bliss, perfect for lounging in my robe and soaking up the serene lagoon vibes. I’d work from my room, sip on lemon radlers by the pool, and enjoy their incredible breakfast spread (the omelette was a 10/10). This is definitely where you want to wake up if you're looking for a luxe yet laid-back start to your Bali getaway.
For a change of scene, I tried my first-ever co-working space at Traibal Bali. It was a game-changer—perfect for getting some work done in a relaxed, inspiring environment. I even managed to squeeze in some meditation sessions that were the perfect midday reset. If you’re a digital nomad like me, I also spent time at B Work Bali, another great co-working spot. Both spaces offer the perfect balance of productivity and Bali's chill vibe.
Then it was off to Canggu, the heart of Bali’s cool crowd. I checked into Sunny Cuddles, a quirky little spot that felt like home, especially with the adorable kittens that would visit my door every day. It's a great pick if you're into charming and unconventional stays.
Canggu was a total vibe with so many cool spots to eat, drink, and just soak in the laid-back atmosphere. Copenhagen Bali became my go-to for breakfast, with delicious acai bowls and iced lattes that were pure morning bliss. For a more Insta-worthy pink aesthetic, Kynd Community had the goods with epic bowls and coffee.
Lunch was all about exploring the scene, and I absolutely loved the Avocado Factory for fresh, healthy bites. Touche also made for a lovely little lunch stop with great food and chill vibes. But Penny Lane? An absolute standout. This place is next-level cool, with jaw-dropping architecture, alternative art, and chic Moroccan-style lounges. It’s where Canggu’s cool kids come to play, sip strong cocktails, and nibble on sharing plates that are as stylish as the decor. I spent hours working and hanging here—it’s got all the nooks and crannies to settle into, whether you’re by the buzzing bar or tucked into a breezy corner.
Dinner at Riviera Canggu was another highlight. A five-star experience with standout cocktails and an ambiance that just hits right. If you’re after a night of luxury dining with a tropical twist, this is your spot.
Staying at Makaii Tiny Villas was the perfect blend of comfort and charm. I worked right by my private pool, and the floating breakfasts organized by my butler every morning were such a treat—it’s one of those little touches that make the stay unforgettable. Nights were capped off perfectly at Roots in Bali, where I dined on delicious vegan food before indulging in a smooth espresso martini.
Makaii Tiny Villas offered a cozy, intimate retreat, perfect for winding down after exploring all day. From the Standard Tiny Villa’s beautiful poolside views to the Deluxe Villa's private garden and pool, this place is made for unwinding. It’s got a tiny on-site restaurant where you can grab a drink or breakfast, plus scooter parking if you’re zipping around Canggu.
